New house?!?!

So, a lot has been going on lately. As we have settled in more here in Oceanside, we have figured out that we made the wrong decision about where we are living. Robert's work is about 30 minutes away, and even though that's not a huge deal itself, it is when you have a demanding work schedule. Robert works a lot when he is on cycle. There are some nights where he had to stay there because it didn't make sense to drive home late at night just to get up a couple hours later to be back at work. Another huge thing is cost. It costs A LOT of money driving a pickup truck up there everyday. He tries to ride his motorcycle as much as possible, but many days they work down dirt roads or it's raining, etc. So...

We put in a request to move. We have been trying for about a month or so. We had to wait on Robert's command to write a letter recommending him for the transfer. Since the wait list is so long for the houses we qualify for (based on rank), they had to recommend us for staff housing (staff sergeants and above) which has immediate availability. We got our letter last Thursday, turned it in with the letter we had to write and now we are just waiting. They came by this morning to do a pre-inspection on our house. They make you go through a set of inspections to make sure that you have not destroyed your house and they would want to lease a house to you again. The lady said our house looked fantastic and that they wouldn't have a problem signing off on the papers. So now our request goes to the housing manager to sign off on. If she approves, then hopefully we will get to move asap.

I went and looked at some of the houses in the district we would be in. They are older than what we live in now, but the layout is great! It is open, but still has a small playroom and a dining room. The living room is actually bigger than what we have now. The bedrooms are smaller, but I am not a huge bedroom person, I would prefer a bigger living room. We would also get a nice sized fenced in backyard with a covered patio. That will be so nice! The only things I will be giving up is 1.) My nice big kitchen. The new one will be small. Big downfall. 2.) My proximity to Chick-fil-A. Yes, this is a deciding factor! ha!! 3.) Target. Love Target! Hopefully the closest one won't be too far away.

So, we are all excited around here! Let's just hope everything goes smoothly. Ideally, I would love to be in the new house by the end of the month. Will it happen??? Probably not. So my next goal would be Thanksgiving.

I will keep you all updated!
