Getting Anxious!

Saturday we went and had our 3d/4d ultrasound. Let me tell you, I am in love with this little boy! He is absolutely adorable. He has the most precious button nose and pouty little lips. He reminds me so much of Thompson. When I was pregnant with him, I had a 3d/4d done and the entire time he would not move his hand from his face. And what do you know-- Brycen is the exact same! It was so cute. He also is a little acrobat. He had his foot and his hand all up covering his face. We were able to get a few great pictures, some were blurry due to Brycen being so closely pressed to my placenta. He needed some water in between to get a clearer picture. Here are some of my fave!

Today we are taking the kids to the pumpkin patch in Temecula. Should be lots of fun! Don't know how many pictures I will get, seeing as to how I forgot my camera in Robert's truck but remembered the charger. Nice, huh? So I will have to steal some pictures from Shanna's camera.

Funny Update Post

We had Thompson's check up today. Everything was great. He is growing right on schedule (for him) weighing in at 25lbs and 34.5inches.

When we took him back to get his shots, I was just sitting there waiting for the scream fest to begin. I made Robert come with to help comfort him. Well...there was no crying AT ALL. He sat up and told the guy "Thank You". It was too funny.

Then it came time for Mommy to get her shot. And the corpsman asked Robert if he wanted to give me the shot. I thought he was kidding and I just busted out laughing. But he said that they let them give the shots if they want to! Well Robert jumped at the opportunity to stab me! Ha! He came over and grabbed the needle off the tray. I was laughing so hard, I was crying. I couldn't believe how bad he wanted to give me a shot, and I couldn't believe I was going to let him. I kept telling him that he better not screw it up and break the needle off inside my arm.

Robert then asked the guy again if it was really ok, and he said "Hey, I'm not the one who has to go home with her tonight!"

Robert gently laid the needle back down and told the guy to go ahead, that he didn't want to take the chance.

So Robert didn't take his "chance of a lifetime".

30 Weeks!

So, I usually do this on Tuesdays but I was probably somewhere in between Albuquerque and the middle of nowhere! So here is what Mr. Brycen is doing these days!

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

I think he may have finally moved into the right position. He has been breech (head up) or transverse (sideways) til yesterday. I finally felt that horrible kicking in the ribs pain I had with Thompson. Let's just hope he isn't too big on doing flips.

So glad to be home!

I hate driving across country! I was so glad to drive into 29 Palms knowing that my bed was just a little bit away!

My legs looked like something out of a horror movie, so I was glad to prop them up and relax. We have had Subway about 5-6 times in the past few days. So I will be glad to go grocery shopping to restock the fridge. We have also been living off of oatmeal and popcorn since we have been back. Ha!

Thompson has his 2-year check up today. I am sure all will be well, except for the shot part. I hate seeing him have to get shots. He is just so helpless. But, I bet I will get my flu shot as well. So we both will be a little sad.

Tomorrow, I have my doctors appointment. After that, on Saturday, we are heading down to Oceanside to visit with Shanna and Haili. While there, we are going to have a 3d/4d ultrasound done! I am so excited for this! I can't wait to see if Brycen resembles Thompson. I found a place that had great packages, so I am hoping that they are pretty good. After that, I think we are going to go to the Pumpkin Patch in Temecula. I have never been to one, but am excited about taking Thompson. They have pony rides and a train that takes you around the patch. Should be fun! And of course, I can pick up some cute pumpkins to decorate the house with.

Whew. I am exhausted and I haven't even gotten through the weekend.

Robert just went back to work. I think it will be pretty slow for him for the next few weeks because all of the guys are gone to Yuma, AZ doing some training. So he will be one of the few left in 29 Palms. But, he will have lots of duty to stand during those three weeks.

We got the U-Haul unloaded and returned. It wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be. Hardly noticed it was even back there. I just hate seeing all of our stuff stored in the garage, yet again. As for Robert's re-enlistment... it got signed off on down at Pendleton. We are just now waiting on a signature up here... I think. Anyways, they said that if it wasn't signed off on by the end of next week, they would hand deliver it to whomever needs to sign it to make sure it got done. So 3 months later, we might get something done. Ugh. Stress. And I have a bad feeling that I am going to be stuck here in 29 Palms for the next 6 months. I really do. And if I had known all of this 3 months ago, I would have put in for a bigger house for the time being. But now, it is probably too late. Oh well.

So, I am in the middle of unpacking and preparing all of the baby stuff. I think this is what they refer to as the "nesting" stage. I wouldn't bet that it lasts more than 2 days! Ha!

I hate this part...

I love more than anything to come home and visit. But I HATE leaving. In my mind, it gets easier each time I have to go. But it never really does. Especially this time since I know we won't be back for a while. And I know that it will be even harder to leave each time now that Brycen will be there.

I think it is even harder knowing that we won't be here for the holidays. I have never missed Christmas and when we pulled up to the house the other night when we got here I just cried. I love seeing all of my mom's decorations and getting together with all of the family. I love that Thompson gets to experience that. So knowing that we won't get to be here for any of just breaks my heart.

I am a big girl and I know that I am not the first person to not be with their family for the holidays. And I know that it will all be ok. It's just hard.

Oh, it just makes me sad. That's all there is to it. I am excited to have my mom come out when Brycen is born. And shortly after, my dad and sisters will make their way out. I guess I can just look at all of the great things coming (Brycen) and be thankful for that.

Please keep us in your thoughts tomorrow. We are beginning our roadtrip back to CA and I am dreading it. I am hoping that Nemo lasts atleast 12 more times in the DVD player. I am hoping that my feet, ankles, legs, and back last through the trip. I am hoping Robert's sanity and good driving lasts as well. We are having to pull a small U-haul trailer behind us and I am nervous. We have never pulled a trailer and I hope my husband knows what he is doing. Oh goodness. Pray for my nerves. I know that between everything I will be one emotional basketcase!

I can feel it in the air...

The holidays are right around the corner. And my favorite three are coming up next! Last year, we dressed Thompson up as a lion for his Halloween costume. He was ADORABLE!





This year, Robert's mom got him an Arkansas Razorback football set (jersey, shoulder pads, pants, and shoes) so I think we are going to be a football player. I know Robert will be proud :)

My birthday falls 2 days before Halloween. While growing up, I had many birthday parties centered around Halloween. My alltime favorite was my "Spider cake" when I was about 5. It looked a little like this. This year, I am thinking about making one for my birthday as well as Halloween. Cute huh?



Then... after all of the Halloween festivities, we get Thanksgiving! Whoo Hoo! Sadly, I look forward to Thanksgiving and dream about all of the YUMMY food I will intake on that day. My family has always been the ones to have a big spread of food choices, and I always make it a personal goal to have some of the staples prepared, even if it is just Robert and I!


And of course, Hobby Lobby always gets me in the mood for decorating. I am *hopefully* going today and getting a few things to decorate the house in. I love when people decorate their front porches, it always puts a big ol' grin on my face.





I love Christmas, I love Christmas! I love all of the movies on tv, the hot apple cider, the Christmas lights, and of course the family gatherings with tons of food! Can't beat it. I have this one certain memory of when I was younger. My mom would always decorate our stairs with this garland that had bells-- it would play "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". I remember sitting in the living room hearing the bells play, sipping my cider, and looking around at all of her Dicken's Village that were lit up. I hope to never lose that memory.


A tradition I am so proud to start with my 2 boys are their stockings! I found the cutest stockings on Pottery Barn Kids, and ordered them last night.

Are they not adorable?? I am kind of a picky person, and I have searched and searched for the perfect stockings. Alas, I found them!

Another thing I am so excited about this year... my very first Christmas tree! You are probably thinking what?! You have never had a Christmas tree?? Of course I had one every year growing up. But never one of my own. I actually bought a beautiful white tree at Target in 2006 and it has yet to be out of the box! This year, since we will be home, we are putting one up. I have tons and tons of ornaments that have never been opened and I am so excited to get to put them on the tree. With a white tree, you can do a ton of different themes each year. This year, I am doing one with bright colored ornaments (turquoise, green, pink, purple). I think it will be so cute! Next year, I might do silver and red... got a little bit of time to think on that one. ;)

Isn't the chandelier a cute idea as a topper?? Maybe a little too over the top, but who cares!

And yesterday, I got another great steal from PBK! I got this table for 30% off! The kids will need a play room table and this will be perfect! I am going to order the navy blue chairs later on, maybe when they are on sale.

Anyways, that is what I am looking forward to now that it is officially October! Today, Thompson and I are going to eat lunch with my niece (a big 2nd grader!) at her school! It is Nacho Day and I am pumped! That was my all-time favorite lunch when I was a student.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We will be busy packing and what not. Fun, huh? We are leaving on Monday, so I know we will be extremely busy for the next 3 days...

Jade Allison

I am in love! One of my closest friends (since pre-school) gave birth to her daughter, Jade Allison. She is absolutely perfect! She weighed 8 lbs 9 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. And I think she is going to look like her momma but with strawberry blonde hair! She was born via c-section, so therefore she didn't have all of the face blemishes and the possible cone head. So cute! I got to go meet her tonight and she was so good. She just layed in my arms and slept. The only time she got fussy was when it was time for her to eat, which I don't blame her. I get a little cranky too if someone tries to keep me from my food. Ha!
